LOVED IT!

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

Before I go any further, I have to say I have one complaint! THE BOOK WASN’T LONG ENOUGH!! I wasn’t ready for this fantastic story to end.
Completely devoured it from the first word to the last and loved every one of them in between! I have read pretty much every one of Kelly’s books and can’t get enough of them.

In this book we meet Lexi and Mac who have known each other since college. Mac has been in love with Lexi for a long time, but has never done anything about it as he doesn’t want to ruin a great friendship. Lexi doesn’t have time for a boyfriend, why should she need one when she has a stand-in one whenever she needs one to cook for or go out for dinner or to help build her furniture, Mac provides the comfort of having someone there when she needs him. After a drunken night of passion Mac realizes that he wants more but Lexi doesn’t realize this and treats him like the stand-in boyfriend that he has been for years. When Mac decides that its time he moves on and starts dating again, Lexi realizes her mistake and that she wants Mac for more than her stand in boyfriend, but her actual boyfriend.

Review:

Ms. Jamieson always writes, great sexy stories and this is no exception. Great tale of friends-to-lovers.

Mac has been in love with Lexi for a long time, but has not wanted to push the boundaries of their friendship. After a night out, all the sexual tension comes to a head when Mac and Lexi give into the chemistry that is obviously between them. Lexi runs scared though and wants to hid from what could be between the two of them. Mac tries to go along with their "friends with benefits" arrangement, but he loves her and wants more. Mac takes drastic measures and once Lexi sees Mac with another woman, it is her "come to Jesus" moment and she must decide if she wants to take a chance or let Mac go.

This book has so many great elements, it is fun, sad, romantic and sexy. I really enjoyed Lexi and Mac and their story. Mac is my favorite in the book, he tries so hard and hides his true feelings. Lexi kind of uses him through most of the story, making me want to smack her up-side her head. I get that she is scared and says some stupid things to Mac, thank goodness for her Mac is such a great guy. I have to say Kelly has a way with the sexy scenes, they were Hot. Totally recommend this or any of Kelly's books.

Good story, and I liked the characters.

Her Stand-In Boyfriend is a short friends to lovers story from Kelly Jamieson. It is a standalone story with no cliffhanger. This one was a quick and easy read that was mostly enjoyable. I did have a few issues here, but there was plenty to like as well.

Mac has been in love with his best friend Lexi for as long as he can remember, but Lexi has never shown any interest in him beyond friends. When he and Lexi have a few drinks after an event, they end up sleeping together and the sex is better than either of them have experienced before. While Mac things will change now, Lexi is determined to remain friends with added benefits. But when Lexi realizes that she might have some competition where Mac is concerned, she will have to make the decision on whether she should make him her actual boyfriend rather than just her stand-in boyfriend.

I really liked Mac and Lexi. I loved their connection and the chemistry between them. These two had such a great bond between them, and I really felt that it was more than friendship from the start. Though Lexi hadn't realized her feelings before, it felt to me like these two were more than just your typical friends. I do think that it was a bit odd that she never really noticed that her feelings were changing though, especially after they had slept together. I wanted her to start to realize that more than just being more physically attracted to him than she had been before. She didn't seem to see any difference until there was someone else in the picture and she was jealous. So while I started I felt like these two had a connection, it was hard to really believe that all of a sudden Lexi had realized that she was in love with Mac. It seemed really rushed, and I wanted her feelings to be real rather than just convenient when she was scared she would lose him to someone else. I felt like there could have been real feelings there and a lot of potential for their relationship change, but I just felt the way it was handled was awkward and came of as unrealistic. I felt bad for Mac for most of this story because it was clear that he loved her so much, and it was killing him to see her disregard him in the way that she did.

I also felt like this story was pretty immature at times, and I didn't understand where that was coming from. These two together were really hot, and the steam between them was explosive. The author had no problems with showing exactly how attracted to each other they were, and the dirty-talking was good. But then she would randomly through in weird sayings rather than cursing in the same paragraph or sentence. Things like "holy snap" and similar dialogue made it hard to really get into this book at times. It didn't mesh with the other language used, and just felt out of place and odd. It got a bit too juvenile for me, and I wanted less of that and more of what her steamy scenes delivered. Overall, this was a good story and I liked the characters, especially Mac. I do think that it could have used some changes though in regards to the juvenile wording and the rushed feelings on Lexi's part.

Must Have book for Dr. Seuss Week in schools!

A lot of schools celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday and most of those have a "Wacky Wednesday", well what better book to read that day?!? It's a great book to encourage critical thinking skills as students help identify all the wacky things going on page by page, plus the number of wacky things increases each picture: "I looked out the window. And I said, GEE! More things were wacky! And I saw THREE".

It's even more fun to copy some of the ideas all over the classroom or at home. My students love it when they see the shoe on the wall! Like most other Seuss classics, the rhyming flows smoothly, the story is a joy to read, and kids love listening to the book!

This was one odd my favorite books when I was little and I hope it will bedtime one of my daughter's favorites. The illustrations are fun and vibrant. Perfect for an early learner and a great book for a toddler to search for odd things on each page. A true classic.

This text is an excellent resource for anyone going to sea and, frankly, anyone operating in an austere environment. I teach Coast Guard Medical Person In Charge classes and bought this book to review it as a possible text for my students. I will be recommending it to all my current and prior students as a great resource to have on hand. Now, if only it came as a Kindle text...

Is it really all there?

When this book arrived, I first thought "wow, this is a small book!" I was expecting something bigger with a ton of information in it. Then I started to read the book. It didnt take more then two casual days of reading to go though it but, what good information! The informatin is old. Seems to be from the 50's or 60's when bomb shelter hype was high. However, the information is still relavent and shows you how to build a basic tough as nail bomb shelter. It will be easy to extrapolate to other designes given the information provided. I recommend you to get this book, then share it. There are other books, but they are massively expensie from the ones I've seen. Good luck! And make sure you use stainless steel rebar! The regular stuff will eventually rust if you intend on passing the shelter down. Also, make sure you call your local concrete association. There are multiple grades of concrete. The highest grade I've found, given a 3" slab without rebar, will carry the weight of an M1 Abrams Tank. Thats about 135,200lbs.

The history, usefulness and long lasting nature of these structures make it a worthwhile project

Interesting look at vintage cold war personal shelter designs that continue to be useable as the technology of building an underground concrete room has not changed significantly since the advent of reinforcing bar. I appreciate that just about every page is loaded with diagrams and useable building tips. The value in a small underground structure built to these specifications is the ambient temperatures found below the frost line. This means minimal heating and zero cooling cost. With proper building and attention to drainage as described within the book, this type of structure has the potential to enhance a parcel of land for several generations.
