A Love that Heals

Jake is put on a forced vacation and on his first morning home he intercepts would-be vandals in his backyard. Luckily it is before they can do any damage. He returns this culprit to his mother, his neighbor. Carrie is startled to find a uniformed officer on her doorstep early the in morning and even more so when she finds out he is bringing her son home. Carrie is a widow and her husband was killed 6 years previously during a bank robbery by police officer and ever since she has harbored mistrust and fear of all police. What unfolds in this story is heartwarming, healing, friendship, and a love that will last. Oh, and don't forget the Italian Mama who shows up. I recommend this book to all!

Witty read

This wasn't a bad read at all. You are dealing with strong independent characters but true to life. They are all believable even the kids in the story. Life struggles everyone or anyone could be dealing with but it has its funny witty moments also. It catches you on page 1 and you don't want to put it down till the end. A few moments where you get sad but what true relationship worth fighting for doesn't have it's ups and downs just a way of life to figure out how to deal with the problems.

Carrie Padilla , widowed mother of an 8 year old son looked out the peephole to see a cop on her doorstep, its only the crack of dawn and she has a deep seeded reason to panic when ever she sees a cop so she won't open the door till he shows the identification she has asked for.
As she opens the door to the officer, Jake Stefani , her panic doesn't stop her from noticing his warm brown eyes and muscular build.
then out from behind the officer steps her son who she thought was asleep upstairs and oh no he has a guilty look on his face.
This is really a four and a half star captivating read. The relationship between the boy and the cop was heartwarming and fun to watch it build, and the feelings of angst between Carrie and Jake kept me turning the pages.
